Is your congregation/society holding a special event in 2011 or do you need to promote your organisation better? Would you like help in learning how to market this occasion or organisation, give a radio interview, write a press release and put together posters and leaflets for print and your website? If so the Unitarian Communication Coordinators’ Network can offer you hands on help from experts in their field.

The Network has no membership or committee but has always been well supported by volunteers and those enthusiasts, from throughout the movement, who are keen to develop skills and extend networks both internally and to others on the fringes and beyond our own movement.

Each year the UCCN Weekend attempts to build on what has been found most useful in extending skills and knowledge that are practically useful for congregations and societies back home. Congregations, Districts and Societies are encouraged to sponsor one or two members. Response in previous years has been excellent so it is important to book in good time. The 2011 Workshop Weekend would be particularly beneficial if two members of an organisation could attend as there will be the opportunity of choosing which of the several options to concentrate on, thus returning home with two different types of promotional material fully prepared. Individual Unitarians will also appreciate the skills and networking that will be on offer at the weekend, as there is always a sense of sharing tips and ideas of how to promote Unitarianism within their own area. The DUWIT team will be available throughout the weekend to respond to any website questions you may have.

Although the weekend officially begins at 4 p.m. on the Friday, James Barry will again be offering an extra activity on the afternoon, showing how to create promotional literature using Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Photoshop elements. Those not able to arrive early for this session will still gain benefit from the weekend but, it would certainly be beneficial and worth scheduling into your diary when booking if this is an area of publicity that you are especially interested in.
